THE WATCHMAN
Many
hard working, well meaning individuals immigrate to this nation every
year with the intention of bettering their life and becoming good
citizens. They adjust to our customs, learn our language and continue to
practice their religion as they see fit. Sadly, they are far
outnumbered by those who enter this country illegally. Those numbers are
in the millions. This has put a strain on our budget, our education
system, our welfare system and everything else. As most of these
individuals do not pay taxes, it has hurt the tax paying citizens of
this country most of all.
This
is not a new problem. This has been going on for decades. An agreement
was reached in the 80’s between President Reagan and the Democrats that
gave amnesty to four million illegal immigrants in exchange for funding
for more border protection. President Reagan signed an Executive Order
granting the amnesty fulfilling his end of the agreement, but the
funding has never been approved. The affect has been devastating to our
nation and to our economy.
The
biggest problem really isn’t passing legislation, its that neither
party wants to lose the access to cheap labor they have by allowing
illegal immigration. This article will explore the hand two Oklahoma
Representatives, one Republican and one Democrat, had in passing an
amnesty bill for a certain sector of illegal immigrants.
House
Resolution 3058 was brought to our attention by a special interest
group known as ImmigrationReform.com. The message they sent out can be
found here. We urge you to open the link and read the article for yourself.
We decided to research the bill and went to the www.Comgress.gov website and pulled it up. You can read it for yourself by .opening this link
and we do encourage you to do so. We will tell you in advance that it
is a long, dry read with a lot of legalese in it, which makes it open to
interpretation, but you will see that this plainly leaves amnesty to
those who are not criminals and a path to citizenship to those who hold
an H2 Visa.
What
we found most disturbing was that the bill limits the ability of law
enforcement and immigration enforcement officials to be able to revoke
and deport those individuals back to their home countries once they have
committed a criminal offense here.
We
went back to Congress .gov to see if we could find a list of
co-sponsors to the bill. In all honesty we did expect to find
Representative Horn’s name there since she was the only Representative
from Oklahoma who is a Democrat. To her credit she did not co-sponsor
this bill. We were not really surprised by the name we did find,
Representative Tom Cole, Republican. We would urge you to open this link if you doubt what we are saying is true.
We
went back to Congress.gov and looked at the roll call vote here. You
don’t have to scroll down very far to find that two Oklahoma
Representatives voted in favor of this amnesty bill. Those
Representatives are Tom Cole and Kendra Horn.
Now
comes the disgusting part of the alleged reform. They call it reform;
we call it slavery. Below you will see section 218 of the bill. This
basically ties the wages to the state or federal minimal wage.
Democrat Representative Kendra Horn also voted in favor of amnesty for illegal immigrants,
“SEC. 218.ADMISSION OF TEMPORARY H–2A WORKERS.
“(D) the Federal or State minimum wage.
“(i)WAGE
FREEZE FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2020.—For calendar year 2020, the adverse
effect wage rate for each State and occupational classification under
this subsection shall be the adverse effect wage rate that was in effect
for H–2A workers in the applicable State in calendar year 2019.
“(ii)
CALENDAR YEARS 2021 THROUGH 2029.—For each of calendar years 2021
through 2029, the adverse effect wage rate for each State and
occupational classification under this subsection shall be the wage
calculated under subparagraph (A), except that such wage may not—
“(I)
be more than 1.5 percent lower than the wage in effect for H–2A workers
in the applicable State and occupational classification in the
immediately preceding calendar year;
The
H2A temporary agricultural program establishes a means for agricultural
employers who anticipate a shortage of domestic workers to bring
non-immigrant foreign workers to the U.S. to perform agricultural labor
or services of a temporary or seasonal nature.
Representative Cole has been leaning left for a long time. The most recent review from Conservative Review found here,
shows a conservative score of a mere 30%. Blue Dog Democrats score
higher than that. Don’t let him get away with coming home and
campaigning as a conservative again because he’s not. He is a liberal.
In
conclusion this is nothing short of a blatant attempt by the Democratic
party to add voters to their ranks while Republicans stuff their
pockets. We would urge all County, District, and ward leaders of the
Republican party not to endorse Mr. Cole for reelection. We further
recommend that the Chair of the state GOP refrain from endorsing or
financing Mr. Cole in any attempt he may make to run for reelection.
