ANOTHER RINO REPUBLICAN
IN A LEADERSHIP POSITION
THE WATCHMAN
This week we returned to the RINO list for our story. Not surprisingly we found a member of the House leadership right at the bottom of the list. We still haven't seen a Democrat near the bottom. Is it any wonder that Republicans are losing their special elections?
We first went to his Official web site at www.Ok.gov here Representative Chris Kannady - Oklahoma House of Representatives. We will give him credit for his service in the Marine Corps. It deserves to be noted that his service in the JAG Corps is what those on the line would refer to him as a REMF. You'll have to ask your friendly Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran what that means. It's not fit for publication according to our editor.
The next article of interest we found was this Chris Kannady - Ballotpedia. Now this gives us a little more insight into his 2nd term in office. What we found especially interesting was his sponsored bills. We would encourage you to open the link and go through the bills for yourself. Almost every single bill or resolution he sponsored that was approved was for a special interest group. The one he failed to get approved was the pay raise for the teachers. Every single bill or resolution he did get approved will have a drastically bad effect on the pockets of the middle and lower income citizens of the state of Oklahoma. This article also highlights that more priority was placed on commending various citizens and organizations than on passing a budget. This is indicative of a complete failure of the entire leadership of the House of Representatives leadership.
The next article of interest we found was a surprise even to us. You can see it here Oklahoma House of Representatives District 91 - Ballotpedia. This is something we have never seen before. This is a breakdown of the district itself. It shows the number of candidates for several cycles, including the amount of funds raised. It even shows the ethnic breakdown of the district. We're sure that both parties put this information to good use.
The next article of interest we found was this Chris Kannady. Now this is a campaign web site. We're not sure from when as there is no date on it. We are curious as to the injury he suffered that ended his career. We note that we didn't see a Purple Heart on his awards. There have been men and women who have lost limbs that are still on active service today.
We next went to www.votesmart.org to see what information they had available on him. The first item we found was this Chris Kennedy's Political Summary - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. If you open no other links in this article you have to open this one. This shows you where he stands on just about every position in the interest to the citizens of Oklahoma. We sadly have to say that as a Republican, his liberal roots are clearly displayed by his 0% rating from the Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association. Yes he will point to his endorsements from the National Rifle Association, but those endorsements have long been discredited as having been bought for the simple support of building a gun range in Nevada.
We next went to his biography page here Chris Kannady's Biography - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. There is not a lot of new information contained here however we did learn that he had an unsuccessful run for the House of Representatives in 2002.
We next took a look at his voting record here Chris Kannady's Voting Records - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. The first thing we noticed was that this was only a partial list of his voting record. It only listed the votes he felt would make him look good. Several of them are un-Constitutional. One has been overturned by the Oklahoma Supreme Court. One would think that a practicing attorney in the State of Oklahoma and an elected member of the legislature would know more about the state's Constitution than it appears.
We next went to the Issues Positions page (Political Courage Test) here Chris Kannady's Issue Positions (Political Courage Test) - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. It is truly difficult to determine where he stands on any position when he just plain and simply won't respond to the questionnaire that was sent to him. He has no political courage. He wants and enjoys the power of his current position to much.
We next went to his ratings and endorsements page here Chris Kannady's Ratings and Endorsements - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. Below is some of what we found.
Business and Consumers2017 Research Institute for Economic Development 95%
2016 Research Institute for Economic Development 79%
2015-2016 National Federation of Independent Business 100%
Those types of numbers are all pro-business and anti-consumer. This is an indication that he is not working for the people.
Conservative2016 American Conservative Union 65%
2016 The Oklahoma Constitution 23%
Fiscally Conservative2017 Sooner Tea Party 0%
2016 American Conservative Union 54%
2015 American Conservative Union 75%
These are indicative of someone more interested in his political career than in actually serving the people of his district and the state of Oklahoma. How he can campaign as a Conservative and keep a straight face is beyond our comprehension.
We next went to the campaign finance page here Chris Kannady's Campaign Finances - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. What we found was disturbing. The report was from an earlier campaign but it didn't specify which one. This meant we needed to dig a little deeper into his campaign finances. We'll return to campaign finances a little later in the story.
The next article of interest we found was this Oklahoma 91st District State House Results: Chris Kannady Wins – Election Results 2016 – The New York Times. Why his election was singled out for a story in the New York Times is rather odd. We can't help but wonder what other forces were manipulating his campaign than just plain politics.
The next article we found was this On the ballot: Oklahoma House District 91 | News OK. This is from his campaign in 2013 for the open seat in District 91. He sure talked the talk of a Conservative politician in this interview, but his actions since have proven to be those of a liberal at heart. It appears he along with a vast majority of his fellow Republicans have forgotten that they are members of the party of smaller government.
The next article of interest we found was this Chris Kannady, State Representative, District 91 | Government - – Moore Chamber of Commerce. It would appear that the Moore Chamber of Commerce thinks so highly of his efforts for them that they even list his name, address and telephone number on their page. That is not a good sign for consumers.
The next article of interest we found was this OK - Chris Kannady | BillTrack50. There is a spot in this article where you can scroll down through the bills he submitted and the status of each bill. We found it strange that the only bills he submitted that were approved all benefited businesses and the state. None of them benefited the citizens of Oklahoma. These are not within the lines of what the Republican Party is supposed to stand for.
The next article of interest we found was this https://tset.ok.gov/sites/g/files/gmc166/f/FY16_HD91_LocalImpact.pdf. Now this is a link that one has to see to believe. You are urged to open and read it for yourself. This is clear cut evidence of misappropriation of funds. TSET was set up from the Tobacco Settlement fund. It was supposed to help cover the cost of smoker's medical bills and the expense of getting them to stop smoking. Based on this article they have spent $1.62 billion dollars on tobacco related items and $1.72 billion dollars on obesity. Since when did obesity become a part of a tobacco settlement? This is an agency that is in dire need of an audit.
The next article of interest we found was this OPEA Endorses Oklahoma House Candidates | OPEA - Oklahoma's Public Employees Association. This is a list that should frighten each and every voter out there regardless of party affiliation. This tells you which legislators owe some allegiance to the unions that control the state workers. Right off the bat they have sold the common working people down the drain. Chris Kannady is among them.
The next article of interest we found was this Legislators, State Officials Accept More Gifts from Interest Groups | Oklahoma Watch. Now this report is dated in June of 2016. It also happens to be a year after the legislature amended the amount that they could receive in gifts from lobbyist. That's right folks they raised the amount of the value of gifts they can receive from lobbyist in 2015. Once again your legislator is selling his vote for a gift from a lobbyist. Some of these same lobbyist even contribute to their campaigns as individuals, which is their right, but raises the question of whose money are they using?
We next looked at the Sooner Tea Party RINO Index of bills that mattered to the working class of Oklahomans. What we found is listed below:
HB 1427 Out of State Tax Collection, Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 1449 Electric Vehicle Tax, Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 1837 Lottery % Raid, Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 1845 Real ID, Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2131 10% Sales Tax Rebate Scheme Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2348 Deduction Freeze Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2351 Tax Incentive Credit, Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2356 Franchise Tax Date Move Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2367 Tax Collector Claw Back Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2372 $1.50 Cigarette Tax Increase Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2387 OJA Bonds Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2389 Health Department Bonds Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2403 Tax deduction limit bill Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2414 Log Rolling 3 Tax Bills Voted Yea, Liberal VoteHB 2433 Car Sales Tax Voted Yea, Liberal VoteSB 38 Fee increases Voted Yea, Liberal VoteSB 120 Aerospace Tax Credit Extension Voted Yea, Liberal VoteSB 170 Income Tax Rate Cut reversal Voted Yea, Liberal VoteSB 786 Soft on Crime Bill Voted Yea, Liberal VoteSB 845 Smoking Fee Voted Yea, Liberal Vote.
Judging by his enthusiasm for raising fees and taxes I'd be willing to bet Chuck Shumer and Nancy Pelosi would like to have him on their team.
We next went to the guardian system set up by the ethics commission to look at his campaign finance reports. There the evidence is very clear. Although he received a bulk of his donations from individuals, those individuals happened to be lobbyist, attorneys and medical professionals. Every single major donor to the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce was on there too. All the special interest Political Action Committees were there. To make it simple he sold his vote for the residents of District 91 to the special interest groups. He's already registered his intent to run in 2018. In fact he transferred in from an "Associated Committee Unregistered Candidate Committee(Not Registered) FRIENDS OF CHRIS KANNADY 2016" the amount of $138,306.91. Just think how much he'll rake in now from all the companies he helped this last session.
It is the opinion of this staff that if this man is to seek re-election he should do so in another political party. He is the only candidate we have found in the last two election cycles that has received funding from the State GOP. There should be no funds from the State Party until such time as he complies with the party platform. What we have here is actually worse than a RINO Republican. He's an undocumented Democrat and undeserving of re-election even to the position of dog catcher.
