THE NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE AND THOSE WHO SUPPORT IT: PART TWO

THE NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE AND THOSE WHO SUPPORT IT:
PART TWO

THE WATCHMAN
This week we bring you the second installment of those accepting trips from the National Popular Vote lobbyist. Yes, they have a lobbyist pushing it at the state capital. Once again, we received some good information on the subject from the Muskogeepolitico.org. What we found was that some of the senior levels of politicians are not for this proposal.

We’ll begin by going to Lt.Governor Matt Pinnell. You can read his comments by going to this link. He is a long-time opponent pf the National Popular Vote and remains stead fast in his opposition.

Another of the state leaders opposed to the National Popular Vote is the Senate-pro tem Senator Treat.
You can find Senator Treats comments by going to this link here. He too is a long-time opponent to the effort.

This article found it’s roots from this article last week. As we said last week, we were shocked by the number of legislators willing to let your vote not count. We would hope that when these individuals’ campaign for re-election that the each have a challenger from their perspective party and are voted out.

Let's look at one of these politicians willing to give away your right to influence the Presidential election, Mark Lawson.

We next went to www.votesmart.org to see what information was available. The first item we looked at was the Political Summary page which you can see by going to this link. It doesn’t say much for his being a conservative. In fact, he’s not.

We next went to his biography page which you can read by going here. We found no major differences between this biography and his official biography. We didn’t expect that there would be.

We next went to the Key Votes page which you can see for yourself by going here. When we went through it, we found numerous incidents of him voting that we consider liberal leaning. It would appear that he is some what of aa Social Justice Warrior. We will follow up on this liberal attitude a little later on in the article.

We next went to the Ratings and Endorsement page located here. What we found was disheartening to say the least. Below you can see some examples from the page.

Business and Consumers
2018 Research Institute for Economic Development (Lifetime) 81%
2017 Research Institute for Economic Development 85%

The scores he received in this section are indicative of an individual who would vote in favor of the business community over what is good for the people.

Conservative
2018 Oklahoma Constitution (Lifetime) 43%
2017 American Conservative Union 59%

Fiscally Conservative
2017 American Conservative Union-State Legislature Lifetime Score 59%
2017 Sooner Tea Party 5%

Socially Conservative
2017 American Conservative Union-State Legislature Lifetime Score 59%
2017 Sooner Tea Party 5%

W next went to the Campaign Finance page located here. We would urge you to open this link and review his finances for yourself. We found very few individual donors but plenty of special interest group. We also found the name of one of former Presidents Obama’s major campaign bundlers. This individual, George Kaiser, added to his fortune by gouging taxpayers in a failed Solyndra energy Co. He bought a part of them when the company closed owing taxpayers billions of dollars. This is indicative of an elected official doing the bidding of the Special Interest.

We next went to he Trump Index to compare his votes against what is considered the bills that most affected the citizens of Oklahoma. Below you will find the results.

HB 1014 Bio-Metric Sharing Bill Voted Yea a Liberal vote
HB 1089 Hospital Subsidy Expansion Bill Voted Yea Liberal vote
HB 1100 Selling Drugs at School Voted Yea a Liberal vote
HB 1263 Zero Emissions Tax Credit, Voted yea Liberal vote
HB 1269 Scrubbing Criminal Records Act, Voted yea, Liberal vote
HB 1411 Home Builder Corporate Welfare, Voted Nay, a Conservative vote

SB 252 Catch and Release Bill, Voted Nay, a Conservative vote
SB 608 Liquor Distribution Law change, Voted Yea, Conservative vote
SB 749 Infrastructure Funding Assistance to Corporations, Voted Yea, Liberal vote

That equals 11% of the time he voted Conservative. Don’t le him run as one in 2020.

The next article of interest we found was this. This link will show you a lot of information without having to search all over the place for the information. We highly recommend that you take the time and read it.

In closing the best that we can say is any elected official that even considers giving your vote away to the Popular Vote concept is a person that will lead you into a dictatorship. We cannot allow this to happen. This man should not be elected to a third term.
