Paying Back the Donor Class Instead of Following the Will of the People

By the Watchman

It's not very often a bill passes both chambers of the legislature and gets vetoed by the Governor. It's also unusual for a bill that passed with such a majority is not overridden by both chambers of the legislature, yet that is exactly what happened. Last week we promised you that we would make life a little miserable for those in office that changed their vote and voted no on the override. This is just the begging.

The bill we are talking about is House Bill 3016 which you can read here webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/cf_pdf/2015-16 ENR/hB/HB3016 ENR.PDF . This bill would have made a new law that would have forced big pharma to provide a list of ingredients contained in each vaccine that our children have to take. It would appear that this was the way for our Governor to repay all the contributions to her campaign from big pharma. She needed an excuse to ignore the will of the people and she decided to side with big pharma instead of ongoing research that indicates some ingredients in vaccines may be the cause of autism. Apparently she feels parents shouldn't have the right to make an informed decision on their own. This is why career politicians must go. These do not recommend Oklahoma values.

One item of interest we thought you should be aware of is this Bill Information. This is how the bill progressed through the House and Senate. It also shows where the Governor vetoed the bill. It shows that the bill was eventually failed to pass a veto override because of certain legislators changing their minds. That is in all reality means they were bought off.

The next article of interest we found was this Representative Gary Banz - Oklahoma House of Representatives. Representative Banz has the dubious honor of being one of many of both chambers to have changed their minds on this bill. This is the Biography that is listed on his House page. It's a brag sheet is what it boils down to. He is a former member of the U.S. Army and Army Reserve and for that we must say we thank you for your service. Far too many feel that they have no need to serve in the military these days.

The next article of interest we found was this State Rep. Gary Banz wants to change U.S. Constitution - Tulsa World: Capitol Report. Now some people will think this is a strange idea, however we encourage you to open the link and read the article. His proposal makes a lot of since. It is well worth reading.

The next item of interest we found was this Gary Banz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. This indicates that he did indeed try to live up to the platform of a smaller government. He submitted legislation that if it would have been approved would have put a state question on the ballot in November of 2012 that would have decreased the size of the legislators in 2021. Needless to say the proposal went nowhere.

We next went to www.votesmart.org to see what information they had available on him. We started with the Gary Banz's Political Summary - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart This doesn't tell us a lot about Mr. Banz. It does tell us that he believes in violating a person's rights by forcing the taking of DNA samples upon the arrest of an alleged felon instead of upon conviction. This DNA database is highly unethical and no provision is made for its removal should the individual be found innocent.

We next went to the Biography page here Gary Banz's Biography - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. This is another link that you will want to open and read for yourself. He is associated with so many boards and organizations that they are just too numerous for us to name here. We are bothered by his membership in two individual Chambers of Commerce and ALEC.

The next item we looked at was his voting record here Gary Banz's Voting Records - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. This is another link that you should open and read. It covers every vote he made from the time he took office until today. This will tell you how conservative he really is.

We next took a look at his Ratings and Endorsements page here Gary Banz's Ratings and Endorsements - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. Here are a few examples of what we found.

Abortion

2014       Oklahomans for Life Inc.               General                92%

2012       Oklahomans for Life Inc.               General                                100%

Business and Consumers

2014       Research Institute for Economic Development   88%

2012       Research Institute for Economic Development   87%

Conservatives

2014       American Conservative Union                                    50%

2014       Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Cmte.    60%

This is repetitive throughout his term in office

Fiscally Conservative

2014       Sooner Tea Party                                                             20%

2013       Sooner Tea Party                                                             33%

2011       Sooner Tea Party                                                             30%

We could go on and on, but this is actually another link you should open and read for yourself. You will be surprised as to how liberal Gary Banz is.

We next went to his Campaign Finance page here Gary Banz's Campaign Finances - The Voter's Self Defense System - Vote Smart. Now it's not to be held against him for not receiving any campaign contributions from the party in this report. The party chair at that time had basically bankrupted the party. However he did receive donations directly from the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and many of the companies that are the backbone of the State Chamber of Commerce. In other words, he was working for the Chamber not the citizens of Oklahoma. He had become a Chambercrat.

The next article of interest we found was this Gary Banz - SourceWatch. This article indicates that Gary Banz has ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council. Now most Conservatives and Republicans believe that this is an organization that is there to help them write legislation that will benefit their citizens. In reality they are nothing more than a corporate bill mill who writes bills that benefit corporate interest over the interest of the public. This is not how we should do things here in Oklahoma. This does not represent Oklahoma values.

The next article of interest we found was this Oklahoma Representative Gary Banz [R] | LegiScan. Now this article only covers the last two sessions of the legislature, but it pretty much tells you the status of every bill over the last two years.

The next article of interest we found was this Gary W. Banz - Oklahoma Legislature - Open States. This article includes some of the most recent votes that he made. He voted to raise your taxes. The same ones you were supposed to get this year are going back up. This is what happens when you elect liberals to the House and Senate.

We can't urge people enough to do the research on the candidates. Research all of the candidates. Some of the ones who have never been in office before can be found along with incumbents at www.votesmart.org. If you can't find them there a simple google search will give you answers. It's vital that our Party apparatus properly vet the candidates. You can only do that by doing the research that is necessary. The GOP can no longer afford to put political hacks in office.

In closing we can only say that we are thankful that one liberal Representative will be gone at the end of the year. May the citizens of District 101 do a better job of vetting the candidates this year.
