Free Legislative Junkets For Selling Out The Oklahoma Electoral College

Sen. James Leewright
WHO IN OKLAHOMA WANT TO SILENCE YOUR VOTE?  THE NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE AND THOSE WHO SUPPORT IT?

THE WATCHMAN

Tonight, we bring you the third installment of those who wish to silent your vote. District 12 Senator James Leewright is the subject of tonight’s presentation.

We began by going to his official biography page. You can find it by opening this link. We will give him credit for being a little more open than some of his colleagues in the Senate. After reading it, it became difficult to draw conclusions on the man with an open mind. We will say this much. His biography displays a tendency to lean towards the business community rather than his constituents.

We next went to his campaign web site located here. Although this is relatively good site, it’s lacking in something that is vital to the knowledge of the voters. We were unable to locate any trace about where he stood on anything that is an issue the voters would be concerned about. We found this to be true throughout our investigation. This allows him to say what ever he feels the voters are concerned about without being pinned down to his written word. Another word for such actions is simply cowardly lies.

The next article of interest we found was this article from Ballotpedia. This will show you how he faired in every campaign he has successfully ran in. Although percentage wise it looks very good, reality takes the shine away due to the lack of voters who actually cast a ballot for these elections. Low voter turns out has plagued not just Oklahoma, but the entire nation as well.

We were able to find a Wikipedia page on him located here. Finding it was like finding a blank page in the middle of a book. There was no usable information on the page.

We next found this article. Once again there was little to no usable information contained in the article. This does show his progressive leaning mind track in the few answers that were provided.

We next went to www.votesmart.org to see what information was available. We started with his political summary page located at this link. It is here that you begin to see his political stance. He has voted yea on every soft on crime bill listed. It even indicates that he has no true political courage when he refused to take a stand on the political courage test sheet. Like a good many other politicians, he likes to keep people in the dark about his true beliefs.

We next went to the biography page located here. This page went into a lot more detail than the official biography listed earlier. There were no dramatic changes between the two.

We next went to his voting record. You can review his record by opening this link. We would recommend that you do read his voting record. It is very apparent that he is soft on crime and likes to raise taxes. These are both liberal traits. We have found that the individuals who submit these records tend to include what they think the people would like. We urge caution when you are evaluating his voting record.

We next went to the political courage page located here. Once again it is apparent that he is lacking in political courage. We have found that candidates tend not to answer these questions. By not answering, the candidate can change his stance to fit the people he wants to vote for him. We abhor this practice.
We then went to his ratings and endorsement page here. For your convenience we listed a few examples below.

Business and Consumers2018 Research Institute for Economic Development 85%
2017-2018 National Federation of Independent Business 100%

These scores are indicative of an individual that is willing to cater to the business community and lay the heavy cost of taxes and increased item cost on the back of the consumer.

Conservative2018 The Oklahoma Constitution 57%
2017 American Conservative Union 65%

Fiscally Conservative2017 American Conservative Union 54%
2017 Sooner Tea Party 40%

We next went to the campaign finance report section at this link. This report is compiled by www.followthemoney.org. Although several individual donors were listed, a vast majority of his campaign was financed by special interest groups. Most notable of these groups included the chemical giant Monsanto. Big pharma was also a contributor to his campaign. This would indicate a willingness to vote in the favor of these special interest groups which affects what we the consumers pay for such services.

We next found this article on legislation and how he voted. Almost immediately you can tell that his votes favored special interest groups over the consumer. This amounts to him paying back the special interest groups for their donations.

The next article of interest we found was this from the Sapulpa Times. What this article amounts to is a brag sheet on a piece of legislation he had introduced. We don’t disagree with the subject of the article, but we do feel that there are more important issues facing the state than what is required for an animal sold in a pet store.

We then found this article that indicates how he voted on various pieces of legislation. We were not impressed.

We found this article from the Claremore Progressive. For the first time in over a decade legislation was offered to raise the minimum wage. We do object to the total raise requested, however, even those just getting into the job market deserve a bit of a raise. Sadly, this legislation never made it to a committee.

In conclusion, this Senator appears to be willing to at least listen to a presentation about making your vote not count while he is doing his best to keep the good, hardworking people of his district and in thee State of Oklahoma hard pressed to get ahead in life. We would not recommend him for another term in office.
